Every recurve style archer has had the frustration of digging through their bow bag, frantically looking for a string. The favourite one that shot so well during practice yesterday. A replacement for the string that unceremoniously started fraying or loosing its nock point during the shoot. Then the struggle of repetitive stringing and unstringing, twisting and untwisting to get to the right brace height. Seeing the string fray at the bends from traditional storing methods, as the protective wax breaks and dirt and water get it, reducing the life span of your string.
After making an unnecessary amount of strings to replace mine and my fellow club members', I developed the StringRing. The only way to store your string where the string does not bend, is protected, does not untwist, and is easy to find. The video below is a quick demonstration of how it works.
To operate, hook one loop of your string on the StringRing side. Wind the string around the centre of the unit and hook the other end loop on the arrowsmith side of the unit. To tighten the fit of the string, turn the arrowsmith side of the unit following the direction of your string. You will hear the gears click into place. This prevents the discs from moving freely and letting the end loops slip off the hooks.
To free the string, turn the arrowsmith side of the unit in the opposite direction. Tension on the string is released and the end loop can be freely removed from the hook.
